Blog 5: Changes to my study program
Hello everyone! For this fifth blog I’m gonna talk about the changes that I would do to my study program, in psychology.
One of the
changes is related to the methodology of some classes. I would love that every
class could be face to face as it has been until now, but also always having
the option of hybrid class, or at least record it for those who can’t to go to
the university, like the ones that lives far or have disorders that make it
impossible for them to even leave their homes. This involves certain changes of
the infrastructure of some classrooms, specifically in the newest building, because
some of them doesn’t have wi-fi access or the best acoustics. And related with the infrastructure, it would be so great that we could have more green areas and study rooms.
Other
change that I would do has relation with the use of technology and the teaching
methods. We had only one face to face class that we saw extracts of documentaries,
and I found it so interesting and facilitator for my learning, so maybe it
could be more understandable and entertaining having classes with audiovisual
material most of the time, seeing it in face-to-face classes and not in our
houses like mandatory material before a class.
The final
change is based on the curriculum of the career. It’s so personal, but since I was
in seven grade, I knew that I wanna study psychology. So, when I was in nine grade,
I was looking for the psychology’s curriculum of the University of Chile, and I
remember that there had anthropology and sociology as classes, which motive me a
lot to enter in that university. To being honest, I would have loved study those
areas and its relationship with my career.
And, right now, I think
that the curriculum must priorate more the classes that has relation with "methodology of the social investigation", because we have evaluations that requires knowledge and a constant reminder of that class. Maybe it could add like a second class, like "methodology of the social investigation II", adding and reinforcing themes like
the use of APA or how do you have to do an oral presentation, thus avoiding
making a transversal that tries to replace it, adding much more academic burden.
And that’s the only that I can say and think now haha, thank you very much for reading!

Hi Ayleen! I agree with you regarding the use of technology, I believe that audio-visual materials make learning much easier.
